THE PROJECT

T

he main objective is to increase knowledge and professional aptitude of the staff to support and promote the modernization of teaching and training systems. Within the European context our aim is to improve our approach on core competences such as ICT and communication skills (including foreign languages) that help transcending geographic barriers and add innovative methods for teaching. To face the challenge of 21st century education, this project intends to integrate our skills into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications and strategy. The Institute, through this new experience, aims at developing its process of consolidating its European dimension and at the same time at assessing its position of benchmark for the schools, associations with which it has been tissuing a net for a mutual and a constant enrichment.
In particular attending "How to make your school more digital" would mean a higher level of competences for our staff since implementing the use of tablets in education responds to our main didactical objectives according to which we aim to:
 • learn about the best practice approaches and practical examples for using Ict in education; 
 • develop and integrate new strategies enriched with modern technologies into school curriculum;
 • learn the theory and practices concerning new opportunities for teaching and learning by using tablets;
 • discover new approaches to paperless classrooms, collaborative documents creation and sharing, Flipped Classrooms;
 • learn how to adapt Fullan’s educational change framework and innovative pedagogical scenarios to our context;
 • implement ICT features for assessment, evaluation in learning and developing of a digital safety policy;
 As for "Best practices Benchmarking" the course matches our school's policy to:
• develop our work organization and explore how classrooms are or should be organised in order to achieve a higher level of competences for school staff;
• develop a vision about innovation in the policy plan of our school;
• facilitate our school in transition from non-digital to digital;
• introduce teachers, headteachers and ICT coordinators in schools to concepts, tools, and exchanges about digital learning;
• advance onsite training of staff by implementing in-service training integrated in real classroom situations, and also promoting online training, for example by means of MOOCs given by the EU;
• arrange different activities with stakeholders (homes, local enterprises, municipality etc.).
As for "Meta-learning and Thinking Skills" the school staff in accordance with school guideline wishes to:
• explore different thinking models and classify them in categories usable for teaching activities within the school curriculum;
• create a map of structured thinking for self-steering in learning processes to be implement ed in classroom settings;
• lay out models of creative thinking in order to challenge learners to become creative thinkers;
• stimulate brain friendly learning mechanisms to implement learning activities;
• empower the next generation of learners in building metacognition to achieve high level of self-steering capacity;
Attending the course "Sensitization training about migration, prejudice and discrimination" in compliance with our school aims we expect our staff to:
• become open minded, critical and active, sensitive about issues such as stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, exclusion and racism;
• learn how to create a trusting and safe learning environment;
• consider all students (Sen and migrants included) the centre of learnings, building learning paths according to their potentialities;
• learn how to teach and discuss these issues to different age groups.
