10.00-11.30: class observation &meeting teachers (informal discussions)
11.30-12.30: lunch

12.30- 13.30: meet special education teacher : what is special education in Finland, what are the main challenges we focus on here in Lumon lukio, Luva program Nina Vuorio
13.30: departure from the school
13.30-14.30: travel back to Helsinki
15.00-16.15: Reading skills for 21st century skills, visit the new library in Helsinki Oodi, librarian expert Rita-Kasari Eeva
9.00-12.00 Optional: Observation in Varia Vocational College

Wednesday 3rd April 2019
Meet 8.30 Tikkurila Railway station, visit Helsinge skola
9.00-9.45: arrival to school an introduction on how Helsinge gymnasium is accommodating the new curriculum for upper secondary (lukio), digital tools, digital matriculation exam meet Lukio Principal Johanna Blomstedt and our host Marielle Mutka, Principal lower secondary
9.45-11.00: class observation (divided into classes with 3-4 teachers)
11.00-11.45 discuss with a group of teachers (digital skills, support for teachers, digital tools to support formative assessment of students)
11.45 - 12.30 lunch in school
12.30- departure from school to Tikkurila and to Helsinki
13.30- arrival in Helsinki and preparing for departure to Tallinn
15.15: recommended boat trip departure to Tallinn

 

Thursday, April 4
9:40 Meeting with James in the lobby of Tallinn University, walk to Tallinn School 21
10:00 Welcome in the lobby of the school, split in two groups for a guided tour
10:00 Guided tour by students
10:50 Gathering in the lobby, assigning course participants to classes
11:00 Observing the lessons
11.50 Discussions with Estonian teachers in the teachers’ room
12:15 Walk to Tallinn University
12:30 Lunch at the University cafeteria
13:10 Bus transfer to G.Adolf Gymnasium
13:30 Guided tour in school
14:30 Hands-on workshop led by students
15:00 Presentation and discussion with local teachers
16:00 Walking back to hotel

Friday, April 5
9:20 Meeting with James in front of the Russian Gymnasium
9:30 Welcome in the lobby of the school by principal.
10:00 Guided tour in school
10:50 Gathering in the lobby, assigning course participants to classes
11:00 Observing the lessons
11.50 Discussions with local teachers in the teachers’ room
12:00 Walk to Tallinn University
12:30 Lunch at the University cafeteria
13:30 Lecture by Kai Pata, senior researcher at Tallinn University
14.45 Break
15:00 Group discussion moderated by James Sunney Quaicoe
15:40 Filling in the evaluation forms,
16:00 To end: individual half an hour with learning diary entries, Social media posts. Coffee/tea.
